Liability insurance covers claims made against your business by someone who has experienced or claimed to have experienced bodily injury or property damage. It can also provide coverage for injuries sustained from your product, claims for libel, slander or defamation, and claims filed by your employees or other 3rd-parties.

Coverage includes legal and defense costs.

Employers & Customer Discrimination Coverage

First party Employers Practices Liability coverage protects you from discrimination, harassment or wrongful rental/eviction type claims brought on by your employees.

Third party Employers Practices Liability coverage protects you from claims brought by your customers, vendors or suppliers.

Coverage includes can include legal costs which can add up quickly.

Loss of Income Coverage covers the loss of income due to damage to a company’s physical property. While property insurance covers physical damage, business income coverage pays for lost revenue during the restoration period.  Coverage includes costs to relocate while repairs are being made.

Wine Contamination

Protects against loss due to non-wine making substances spoiling the wine, such as cleaning chemicals or vermin.

Wine in Transit

If you are hiring a company to pick up and move your wine to a 3rd party wine storage who is responsible for loss if the trucking company is in an accident and your wine is destroyed?

The transport company likely has insurance for THEIR loss, but what does the contract between the winery and the tucking company state?  Most contracts hold the trucking company harmless of your wine loss.  In this case, the winery policy needs to have In Transit coverage for the retail cost of the wine being transported.

Error & Omissions or Professional Liability provides coverage for winemakers making wine for others. This does not provide coverage for bad blending; it provides coverage for errors such and accidentally not cleaning a barrel or improper storage resulting in wine being unusable.
